St. John Congregation is an ecumenically-oriented fellowship, providing opportunities for all ages. Trained caregivers staff the nursery, both during worship  and Sunday School. Ministries for youth include age-graded classes, children's sermons, liturgical movement, vacation Bible school, and fellowship groups for Junior and Senior High youth. Ministries for adults range from Bible study, current issues, parenting, choir and service opportunities, as well as family-oriented retreats.

Outreach and action in the community is integral to St. John Church. Members and friends participate in Adopt-A-Highway, housing the homeless through PATH, support RAVENS to meet emergency needs, serve meals to the elderly via Meals-on-Wheels, staffing Christmas Kettles collection, join with Project Share in aiding families, and engage in numerous other service projects locally and through the wider United Church of Christ agencies.
