Fill your mind with knowledge and visit the Defiance Public Library. Our Library was built in 1904 with funds from a Carnegie Grant. The Defiance Public Library reaches out to all members of the community. From the youngest child to the mature adult, programming and services are provided for all: lapsit for infants and toddlers, preschool Story Time, Summer Reading Program, Book Discussion group, special programming, Audio Visual Department with books on tape, cds, dvds, e-books and videos, Homebound delivery, literacy tutoring, public Internet computers, local history and genealogy resources are located in the Ohioana Room, special categories of fiction: inspirational, light romance, mystery, science fiction and western, Nellie M. Gary Reading Room, large newspaper and magazine collection, past issues of newspapers on microfilm, print, and electronic reference sources, large print books, and fax, typewriters, computers, copy machine, and Ellison Machine available for public use. Built in 1904 with funds from a Carnegie Grant, the Defiance Public Library is among the community's richest architectural and informational resources. Two branch libraries are also part of the Defiance Public Library System. Johnson Memorial in Hicksville and the Sherwood Branch offer library services to their communities.
