DEFIANCE AREA PAX CHRISTI LOCAL, Defiance, Ohio

"In 1945, a small group of people in France met to pray to for peace. Their concern was not a vague one, but an agonizing and dreadful fact: French Catholics and German Catholics, who professed the same faith and celebrated the same Eucharist, had killed one another by the millions in the twentieth century. That situation could hardly have been the will of God, as they understood it. So they prayed for forgiveness, for reconciliation, for the peace of Christ."

"Soon after the war, Pax Christi centers were established in France and Germany; by the early 50's the movement spread to Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium. In the 1970s Pax Christi USA was established in the United States."

"Violence ends where love begins..."

Our Pax Christi Local is committed to building communities of faith, supporting one another in action, and in challenging one another to examine the intent and consequence of our actions. As part of our purpose to create prayerful communities that make visible Christ's call to peacemaking, we meet in a faith-sharing, supportive environment to celebrate our effort together and welcome newcomers.

If you are interested in attending any of our monthly meetings, please call in advance so that we can inform you of dates, place and time. All are welcome!
