The Payne Branch Library was the second branch library of the Paulding County Carnegie Library system. It was established in 1996 in a store-front at the corner of SR 49 and SR 500 in the Village of Payne. The library was opened via a cooperative effort between a dedicated group of residents, the Village of Payne and the Paulding County Carnegie Library in response to rising library use and loss of bookmobile service.
The library provides popular reading material in a variety of formats, as well as books on tape, large print titles, a collection of award-winning children’s books, materials for young adults, and magazines. It is also equipped with computers and Internet access. The library celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2006. Friends of the Library: The PBL has an active Friends group that supports the library by providing the building and supporting library programs and services.
