The Defiance parks system features lighted ball parks, two swimming pools, and several city parks with supervised programs. There are seven movie theatres in Defiance. The Fort Defiance Players are an active Thespian Troop.

The Defiance Library, an historic Carnegie Library, is loated on the confluence of the Maumee and Auglaize Rivers, near the archaeological site of Fort Defiance. The Friends of the Library is an active support group.

Nine-hole and 18-hole public golf courses are within 7 miles of Defiance. Kettenring Country Club is a private club with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and clubhouse with dining room.

The Defiance YMCA is housed in a $4.1 million facility and features a full auatic center and an active and expanding family program. There are also active 4-H, Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs in Defiance.

Auglaize Village, a restorations project of the Defiance County Historical Society, is located three miles west of the city.

Fraternal and service organizations in the area include: American Legion, Business and Professional Women, Diabled American Veterans, Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce, Eagles, Elks, Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, Lions, Marine Corps League, Masons, Moose, Optimists, Rotary, Sertoma, VFW and Zonta.
