The Defiance Hospital, an accredited institution, has 96 beds for medicalsurgical, pediatric care and coping center. Thirty-seven doctors practice in Defiance and eighteen others are afforded contractual status. An additional 63 doctors enjoy courtesy and consulting privileges. Defiance features a regional daily and Sunday newspaper, the Crescent-News, WONW AM radio station, and WDFM and WZOM FM radio stations. Thirty-five television stations are available on cable while numerous television and radio stations are received directly in the city.

Schools

The Defiance Public School District has four elementary schools, a middle schools (grades 5 and 6), a junior high school (grades 7 and 8), and a four-year high school. The public school system's enrollment is approximately 3,200 students. Defiance also has four parochial schools: two Catholic, one Lutheran, and one Church of God.

The Defiance School District helps support a separate Four County Vocational School District which offers 28 trade specialities to high school juniors and seniors, along with adult education in standard and custom-designed programs. Colleges

The Defiance College, located within the city, is a four-year liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 900 students. The Defiance College has established a cooperative education program with local business and industry, and an accelerated Business Management Program and Master of Arts in Education are available.
